‘Molly’s Game’ Author to Talk Risk as HITS Fall Keynoter

Molly Bloom, author of the memoir “Molly’s Game” — in turn made into an award-winning film by Aaron Sorkin — will be a keynote speaker Oct. 4 during the Hollywood Innovation & Technology Summit (HITS) Fall event in Los Angeles.

Her exclusive presentation — “How to Manage Risk and Create an Unforgettable User Experience” — will offer studio tech leaders insight into how they can manage business risk, make data-informed decisions, and better capture the imagination of the consumer. Bloom built and managed a famed (and notorious) private poker game worth hundreds of millions of dollars, catering to actors, athletes and more.

Now an inspirational speaker and entrepreneur, Bloom began her career as a world-class skier, joining the U.S. Ski Team where she was ranked No. 3 in North America at the age of 21. She has appeared on numerous shows and in media outlets including “Ellen,” “Vice,” “The Los Angeles Times,” “NPR” and “Vulture.”

HITS Fall will feature a full morning of keynotes, panels and use-case presentations around Entertainment Production in the Cloud (EPIC), and, additionally, the day-long meeting at the Skirball Center in Los Angeles, will focus on other key, innovative and transformative technologies including blockchain, AI, distributed workflows, and cybersecurity. Once again, HITS will be co-located with the SoCal Women’s Leadership Group annual meeting.

In total more than 1,000 senior studio executives and their technology partners attended last year’s HITS Fall, making it the largest industry conference of the season in Los Angeles. HITS Fall will also host membership meetings and technology briefings for both the Trusted Partner Network (TPN) and Entertainment ID Registry (EIDR).

“By providing the most relevant, expert thought-leadership, HITS is a must-attend event for its core membership of studio IT and technology executives,” said MESA Executive Director Guy Finley. “By co-locating with other key, industry associations we are expanding the HITS community, while providing event sponsors and MESA members with valuable, new business relationships.”

HITS Fall is sponsored by Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Ooyala, TiVo, Cognizant, LiveTiles, Wasabi, Aspera, EIDR, MicroStrategy, human-I-T, Zaszou IT Consulting and OnPrem Solution Partners and is produced by the Media & Entertainment Services Alliance (MESA), in association with the Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA), the Hollywood IT Society (HITS), the Smart Content Council and Women in Technology Hollywood (WiTH).
