MESA Members Tout Their Latest Tech at NAB Show New York

Several MESA members spotlighted their latest products and services at NAB Show New York, Oct. 24-26 at the Javits Center, helping attendance surpass 12,000 people.

Total preliminary registered attendance reached 12,231, with participation growing 28 percent from last year, the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) said. There were also more than 225 sessions that hosted close to 300 speakers.

The show floor featured almost 270 exhibitors, including 60 who did so for the first time, showing the latest technology in broadcast, media and entertainment (M&E). The 2024 NAB Show New York will be held Oct. 8-10, 2024, with exhibits open Oct. 9-10.

The next NAB Show will be held April 13-17, 2024, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Below is a roundup of what MESA members highlighted at NAB Show New York.

Ateliere

“This year at NAB NY, it is evident that cleaning up catalogs and reducing redundant content to achieve significant cost savings in cloud storage is a top priority for media companies,” said Kira Baca, chief revenue officer at Ateliere Creative Technologies.

“Ateliere offers the only market-ready solution for deduplicating content through our AI-driven FrameDNA video deduplication feature, a user-friendly, low touch, code-free solution,” she said during the show. “It has been incredibly exciting to showcase this on the floor and witness the genuine enthusiasm from technology strategists and executives attending this year’s event.”

Ahead of NAB Show New York, just before IBC 2023 in Amsterdam, the company said Aug. 29 that its cloud-native Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) media supply chain platform “empowers businesses to reduce operational expenses and disaster recovery costs by 70 percent or more.”

The company invited IBC 2023 attendees to “learn how its solutions enable businesses to cut operational expenses, protect high-value IP, and support a seamless media asset management (MAM) migration to the cloud. Ateliere’s modern, cloud-native media supply chain solutions, Ateliere Connect and Ateliere Discover, “make it easy for content owners and distributors to leverage the full potential of cloud scalability and performance,” it said.

As an application programming interface (API)-first solution, Ateliere “connects and integrates at every business intersection,” the company said at the time.
“By collaborating with industry-leading partners like Ateme, Fabric, Interra, Rightsline and more, Ateliere ensures smooth automation and integration of workflows. From content sales to packaging to delivery, every step is flawlessly orchestrated, powered by the reliable infrastructure of AWS.”

Key Code Media

At NAB New York, Key Code Media’s Key Code Education team provided free education for Avid Technology editors and production professionals and said its booth was the only one at the show demonstrating Avid workflows.

The Key Code Media team hosted private consultations and troubleshooting that solved technical and equipment purchase questions, it said. The team also provided VIP booth tours to help customers and other visitors “get important questions answered for your upcoming equipment and infrastructure upgrade projects,” the company said.

The company has a “proven track record of helping businesses get the right equipment, installation, and after-market support for … audiovisual, broadcast and production workflows,” it said.

Signiant

Signiant exhibited at NAB Show New York to spotlight its new tech to those who missed what the company showed at NAB in Las Vegas or IBC in Amsterdam.

Before NAB New York, Signiant provided a joint demo with PallyCon, a forensic watermarking solution, at IBC. Visitors learned how the SaaS solution “integrates with the Signiant Platform to help quickly and easily apply content security,” it said.

Sony/Ci Media Cloud

“As we celebrate our tenth anniversary, Sony’s Ci Media Cloud … once again [showcased] our latest options, integrations and features at NAB New York,” said David Rosen, VP of cloud applications and services at Sony Electronics.

Attendees who visited the company’s booth at the show were able to “see and learn about updates including mobile app offline file previews, mobile commenting, our Sidecar Ingest Workflow – which provides automation for migrating large archive libraries into Ci without losing metadata – as well as our forensic watermarking through alignment with NAGRA,” he said.

He added: “Whether you’re new to Ci or an active user, we encourage” customers and potential customers to “experience the evolution of our platform, as we make updates with our users’ productivity and workflow in mind.”

For those who haven’t caught up with Ci in a while, the company highlighted a lot of new features and updates.

Synamedia

At NAB New York, Synamedia showcased its Video Network products, including Quortex Link, what it described as an “industry-first, pay-as-you-use, self-service multi-tenant SaaS platform for video distribution,” and Quortex Play, a cloud video delivery platform it said was “optimized for just-in-time processing of live video streaming.”

The company also showcased its Content Delivery Network (CDN) solution that it said “enables full visibility and control over streaming video traffic including the ability to quickly scale up from 500 Gbps to 5+ Tbps, and back.”

VITAC

At NAB New York, VITAC highlighted its tech across various categories, including streaming/over-the-top (OTT) video, streaming media devices, automation tools, video content servers/video processing, audio post-production/mastering, audio production /recording, news/weather/traffic services, subtitling and closed captioning, TV and video production and workflow solutions, the company said.

In intelligent content, the company spotlighted artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as voice AI, voice recognition and language processing.

Wasabi

“NAB NY was an excellent opportunity for Wasabi to continue showcasing how hot cloud storage can enable media and entertainment companies to securely store their data, while still making it easily accessible for usage,” according to Isabel Freedman, alliance marketing manager, M&E at the company.

“Now more than ever, cybersecurity is on the minds of everyone as ransomware attacks keep growing,” she said.

Wasabi was, meanwhile, “lucky enough to have our booth next to our partner, Atempo, which helps organizations easily implement a comprehensive data protection strategy,” she said. “We really enjoyed working with them to show how pairing Atempo’s solutions with Wasabi can help keep data protected from cyber threats.”

Xperi

Xperi offered in-vehicle demos at NAB New York of DTS AutoStage, what the company called the “only global entertainment platform for the connected car, at Xperi’s booth.”

Additionally, Joe D’Angelo, Xperi SVP of broadcast radio, digital audio moderated a session on Oct. 26 called “Your Station’s Data-Driven Story: The Connected Car and Your Listeners’ Station Experience” as part of the Broadcast Content Summit.

The session featured executives with Beasley Media Group and New York Public Radiohow connected cars are providing radio with timely insights into how, when, what and where their listeners are engaging with their station’s programming.

It also included an overview of how Xperi’s DTS AutoStage is becoming the foundational source for providing radio stations with their data driven story.

D’Angelo also wrote a blog post, published on Xperi.com, that provided more insight on how the DTS AutoStage Broadcaster portal tells the story of radio stations, why that’s important to OEMs and broadcasters, and why it is vital to the future of radio.
