HITS 2023: Softtek IT Governance Lead Delivers WiTH Keynote

CULVER CITY, Calif. — Albertina Cardiel, IT governance, risk and compliance director, and diversity and inclusion leader for Softtek, noted that the program for the May 23 Hollywood Innovation and Transformation Summit (HITS) at The Culver Theater involved a lot of sessions around artificial intelligence.

“AI is going to make us agile,” she said, speaking during the Women in Technology Hollywood (WiTH) keynote “Powering Scalability and Innovation through Governance.” “Reliable? I’m not sure. Safer? I’m not sure.”

What Cardiel was sure of is that AI, among other things, needs to be considered in every aspect of the workplace, including the development of a proper governance plan. Her presentation argued that a holistic approach to governance is essential to powering scalability and innovation in the production environment.

She shared how Softtek takes a unique approach, combining IT best practices with talent development programs, workflow technology, and collaborative methodologies. And the company has a commitment to empowering women in technology, leading to a more diverse and talented workforce. “People are coming to us asking for more diverse teams because consumers are diverse,” Cardiel said.

Adaptive governance helps you become more discoverable, and agile in a flexible way that aligns IT principles with company principles, she added. Adaptive governance should drive value, enable distributed authority for value-based decision-making, balance risk and performance on investments, and include a principles framework that covers rules, policies, and directives. And it helps with communication between legal and IT “because we speak a different language. That’s something that needs to be considered in governance principles.”

Cardiel said that customers today ask that their platforms, systems, and content to be reliable, agile and safe, and to manage risk you must always think in terms of what’s best for your business. Establishing strong governance approaches helps CIOs respond quickly to disruption and connect decisions across the content management enterprise models,
