Challenging Stereotypes on Agenda at May 23 HITS Event

What’s in a number? Turns out, a lot when it comes to ages and the media and entertainment industry.

We’ve all experienced it: being judged or judging someone for being too young or too old. As workplaces today often consist of people from four distinct generations, how do we acknowledge and overcome the challenges inherent in cross-generational culture?

That topic will be tackled at the Hollywood Innovation and Transformation Summit (HITS), at the Culver Theater in Los Angeles, and online via MESA’s virtual platform, the MESAverse, in the Women in Technology Hollywood (WiTH) Connection Corner discussion “Challenging Age Stereotypes: Creating Synergy and Building Stronger Teams.”

A collection of experts will examine biases surrounding Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Baby Boomers, addressing common misconceptions and communication barriers between generations. Attendees will learn from the panel how to transform generational friction into an inclusive learning culture and gain increased self-awareness of your own sentiments toward other generations, as well as practical ideas for fostering unity and promoting positive change.

Discover how you can turn communication challenges into learning opportunities that strengthen teams through experience-sharing, curiosity, and asking the right questions. Attendees will discuss these issues and learn strategies for creating effective, collaborative teams that bridge the gap between generations.

Panelists include iAsia Brown, program manager II, FastTrack for Microsoft Azure and WiTH board member; Liz Husarik, consumer insights and brand strategist; Niamani Knight, founder of S.T.R.E.A.M.; Linda LoRe, CEO of InJoy Global and Linda LoRe Consulting; and Jeanette Depatie, senior techsplainer, writer and blockchain expert for Propellerhead.

The annual Hollywood Innovation and Transformation Summit (HITS) Spring event is the industry’s largest gathering of media and entertainment’s CIOs and top technology minds, bringing together the IT, data, and security communities of the industry. Held as a “hybrid” in-person and virtual event, those not in Los Angeles can attend via Zoom or the MESAverse, MESA’s virtual work environment for its members and communities to watch live presentations, network, and step on the stage to share opinions.

The MESAverse uses ICVR’s RendezVu, a proprietary, interactive 3D-world application that will allow for hybrid live and virtual events and regular day-to-day interactions that go far beyond video conferencing.

The Hollywood Innovation and Transformation Summit event is produced by MESA in association with the Hollywood IT Society (HITS) and presented by Amazon Studios, with sponsorship by Fortinet, Genpact, Signiant, Gracenote, Ascendion, Coresite, MicroStrategy, CDSA and EIDR.
