OpenText executives, in a presentation to investors during its annual Enterprise World conference in Toronto July 10, highlighted artificial intelligence (AI) and other growth opportunities for the company, and also touted OpenText OT2, the company’s new, next-gen hybrid-cloud platform.

AI and analytics are “really important for us and becoming more important,” James McGourlay, OpenText EVP of worldwide support, told investors. “We need to be really efficient in order to make sure that we have a pulse on each” of the company’s 120,000 customers, he said. And OpenText’s Magellan AI and analytics platform helps boost customer success, according to a slide he showed attendees.

Malaysia Airports is one customer that has taken advantage of OpenText’s AI, Simon Harrison, EVP of worldwide sales, said, noting intelligent automation and advanced analytics have helped improved the experience of passengers at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Benefits of using OpenText’s Magellan platform have included increased passenger satisfaction by helping them navigate their way through the airport and accessing services and other experiences according to their preferences, as well as increased operational efficiency and increased revenue for the airport, according to Harrison.

The OpenText Cloud also provides a large opportunity for the company, McGourlay said, noting it’s “becoming more and more important as a way forward for us.”

But “when we look at the drivers for annual recurring revenue … product adoption is number one,” McGourlay said, stressing the importance of “making sure that customers are able to use our software [and] our services to the fullest capability.”

OT2 combines intelligent automation, security, and enterprise information management (EIM) applications in a unified and flexible platform, the company said.

The next-gen platform “simplifies technology investment decisions by delivering compelling applications for business users — hybrid-cloud based EIM applications supported by modern micro-services – all on a single” Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform, OpenText CEO and CTO Mark Barrenechea said in a news release. Applications in OT2 “will be tightly integrated with OpenText Release 16,” the content suite the company introduced in 2016, he said, adding: “Whether securely sharing information internally and externally by integrating OpenText Core and OpenText Documentum, or managing contracts by integrating Contract Center and OpenText Extended ECM, customers will get a single solution from OpenText.”

With a unified data model and a standard user interface, OT2 “enables developers to rapidly build SaaS applications in the OpenText Cloud,” according to the company. OT2 is available now to OpenText customers.

Muhi Majzoub, EVP of engineering and IT, previewed the first generation of transformative applications built on OT2 in a keynote address at Enterprise World. OpenText again used the annual event, its 20th, to showcase how the company is helping business and technology leaders “navigate the macro-forces driving the modern global economy – from cloud, AI, IoT, security, to millennial workforce and consumers, quantum computing and emerging technologies,” it said in the news release.
