Ooyala to Showcase VR 360, HEVC Streaming Solutions at July 24 M&E Day

Ooyala has unveiled a suite of new capabilities for its Flex Media platform, including the ability to stream virtual reality (VR) 360 and HEVC content, along with new audio and advertising features.

Ooyala plans on showcasing the new features during MESA’s Media & Entertainment Day at the Microsoft Tech Center in New York on July 24.

“We are at the forefront of our industry, recently providing the workflow infrastructure for the VR360 experiences of the 2018 Winter Olympics as well as high quality and low bandwidth HEVC streaming solutions,” said Jonathan Huberman, CEO of Ooyala. “Providing the best live video experience is a major part of our mission, and we’re leveraging best-of-breed Ooyala Flex Media Platform solutions to realize that objective for our customers.”

Other new features include the ability for Flex Media users to deliver multiple audio streams in a single player, allowing for multiple language tracks and audio commentaries for both live streaming and VOD content; enhanced clipping of VOD assets and highlights during live events; and server-side ad insertion, with support for Google DoubleClick for Publishers.

The latest updates come after Ooyala added real-time monitoring, back-up systems and scheduling tools to its Flex Media platform in late 2017.
